Cerberus

The Cerberus is an evil mythological character in Greek and Roman mythology. Legend has it that the Cerberus is a dog of some kind with multiple heads. Cerberus’s intention was apparently to be a protector, kind of like a guard dog. Most sources show Cerberus guarding the gates of the underworld, Hades but other sources mostly ancient artwork depict him fighting in large battles.  It is also commonly believed that he had 3 heads but other sources show or say he had up to 50.

The Cerberus was considered to be very dangerous and nearly undefeatable. There are multiple Greek stories of heroes trying to defeat the Cerberus and failing. This is what makes the Cerberus a monster. As dangerous and powerful the Cerberus may have been, he was also incredibly intimidating and scary. Cerberus has all the characteristics of a stereotypical monster: big and intimidating, dangerous and powerful, and also angry and blood thirsty. There is no question why this 3 headed dog was one of the most feared characters in Greek mythology.
